Nolvadex

It is one of the most commonly used drugs among anabolic steroid users and it’s not an anabolic steroid at all; further, it is used by both men in women; we’re talking of course about Nolvadex or Nolva. Nolvadex is what many call the drug but generically it holds the name “Tamoxifen” but it is with the name “Nolvadex” which it is most commonly known. Nolvadex is commonly referred to as an anti-estrogen drug due to its partial antagonist nature; while this is correct a common mistake many make is throwing into the category of aromatase inhibitor; make no mistake, although it shares some similar characteristics as many aromatase inhibitors, an aromatase inhibitor it is not.

Tamoxifen Citrate

Tamoxifen Citrate was first developed in 1962 in an effort to synthesize a “Morning After” medication however, this proved to be a flawed medication but it was soon realized the medication had another more important use. It was known the hormone estrogen was a leading problem regarding breast cancer. As with many drugs it took a very long time for the benefits to be fully understood but in 1998 the drug Nolvadex was finally deemed a life-saver in those who suffered from breast cancer and since that time its use has continued to save many lives.

As is with so many drugs Nolvadex too found a home in the performance enhancing world. It’s not secret; estrogen can be an enemy when it comes to gaining and even maintaining muscle tissue and Nolvadex proved to be a useful tool in this battle. Unlike many performance enhancing drugs which are used for just that, to “enhance performance” Nolvadex is commonly used to ward off the side-effects many of these drugs can bring, as well as to aid in recovery of anabolic steroid use.

How to use Nolvadex?

One of the earliest uses found for Nolvadex in the performance enhancing world was in the prevention of Gynecomastia, a common side-effect of many who use anabolic steroids. When one uses anabolic steroids it is not uncommon for estrogen levels to get out of control. Nolvadex can aid in preventing this nasty side-effect from occurring by binding estrogen; however it is not a sufficient tool in reducing the effect. For this reason, many anabolic steroid users have begun to shy away from Nolvadex to prevent Gynecomastia and have opted for aromatase inhibitors to get the job done; which are far more effective.

Even though Nolvadex was once viewed as a solid tool in Gynecomastia prevention and that has fallen out of popularity, it still carries a very popular use. One of the most popular uses of Nolvadex among anabolic steroid users is in that of post cycle therapy (PCT.) Nolvadex is an excellent drug to serve this purpose; one of the main purposes of PCT is to stimulate and increase natural levels of testosterone which diminish when anabolic steroids are used. For many years anabolic steroids users relied heavily on the drug Clomiphene Citrate (Clomid) and many still do but Nolvadex has by many been deemed the superior drug of choice; largely in part due to its milligram for milligram strength versus clomid. With the use of Nolvadex in conjunction with Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) many anabolic steroid users enjoy a smooth recovery and as anyone knows, “recovery” lends a helping hand to preserving gains.
